Cost of Attendance

The official Cost of Attendance for the academic year is used to calculate eligibility for federal grant and loan programs. 

  • Pell Grants, in combination with Scholarships, can be awarded up to and beyond the Cost of Attendance.
  • Federal or private loans cannot exceed the Cost of Attendance.

*A one-time increase of up to $1000 to the Cost of Attendance is permitted only if:

  1. Your total aid has met the Cost of Attendance limit, AND
  2. You have Direct Loan eligibility remaining. 

**Personal expenses include the cost of BYU health insurance premiums for a single student.  BYU health insurance is required if you are not covered by another annual policy.  Students are billed each semester and term for the entire academic year including future periods of non-attendance.
